John Sears "Johann" Barker

BARKER, John Sears "Johann", 85, passed away quietly at Casa de la Luz Hospice on October 10, 2009, surrounded by his family. Born in Maine in 1924, to John and Mary Barker. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; four children, Stephen, Valerie, Philip and Pamela; sister-in-law, Sylvia; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He served as an Army Air Force war correspondent in Italy during WWII and moved to Tucson in 1993 following a career in the U.S. Foreign Service and several years of retirement in Crossville, Tennessee. A Foreign Service Officer, feisty New Englander, and an avid writer, John published several books, articles, and other manuscripts. He wanted no obituary, funeral, or Memorial Service, but we, his wife and children, feel the need to acknowledge the passing of this remarkable husband, father, and American.
