I went to LAS for just one year - 2nd grade - in 1967-68. I would love to hear from some of the kids in my class - so many names on this Web site are familiar!
I can be reached at LBaxter98@aol.com.

Thanks, Kamran .
Feel free to contact me at cool-change@web.de

I attended LAS 1958 - 1960 - 6th and 7th grades. I would like to locate my 7th grade teacher, Margaret Childs. I think her husband worked for the State Department. It would also be great to hear from anyone who might remember me or my brother Clark.

My mother just passed away last June, at the age of 88, and re-joined her husband of 60+ years, Marvin, who passed in August of '02. Dad worked at the Embassy for the Foreign Service.
I am currently still here in Alexandria, VA, in folks house, as I was Mom's Caregiver/Advocate for past seven years. Am not in transition for next phase of life. Hope to hear from any of you..
Impressed by the fact that someone is keeping track, searching, attempting to gather LAS-ians around the world, below are my contact details. Many of us from IRS and subsequently LAS are already on facebook. I use the opportunity to publicly thank my roommate Mark Hunsberger for finding me by e-mail and later introducing me to facebook where many of our schoolmates have supplied photographs and updates.
Best wishes to all for the 2010

I was looking for Susan Zabinski (now Blackwood) and it was a wonderful surprise to stumble on to this site. I attended LAS between 1974-75, after which time I immigrated to the U.S. with my family. I now live in Pasadena, CA (home of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl and great architecture) and neighboring city to Los Angeles. For most of my career, I've been either in higher education management, administration or consulting crossing the States from the East Coast to the West. I had the opportunity to work for Chancellor Bill Segura at the Los Angeles Community College District who was a former coach at LAS but left a few years before I attended LAS. I'd like to reconnect with some of my classmates--Mike Avila, Naila and Junaid Malik, Tamur Mueenuddin, Negar Magellesi, one of the Saigals, to name just a few. You can find me on Facebook and LinkedIn if you'd like to connect.
Mrs. Elizabeth Shuey was our American History teacher and Mr. Shuey was the principal at the time--are they both alive and living in Northern CA?
Thank you,

This is Ali Riaz Shah (class of '90). I had come across this site almost ten years ago and have frequented it from time to time. Lot's of names that brought back lots of good memories. Anyhow, I'm currently in Chicago and my email address is alishah@hotmail.com. Hope to hear from old friends..

After years of wanting to try my hand at development work, I finally convinced someone to take a chance on me and snagged this cherry position with Mercy Corps (NGO based out of Portland). It was hard to break into the field at my age and it certainly is giving me a run for my money! But I'm running a very worthwhile community development program in three southern oblasts (states) that is a very nifty spin on micro-credit. We've established seven local citizen councils, each representing 7 different communities. They manage their own revolving endowment funds (with our help) to support innovative projects that have cross-community benefits by giving low interest loans (not grants). It's essentially a venture capital mechanism that supports small, high-risk entrepreneurs and micro enterprises that don't have access to traditional credit. What's particularly cool about our program is that projects the councils approve must have significant perceived cross-community benefit plus all the principal and interest payments go right back into their own endowment funds to be available for next qualified borrower...and so on. It's a great concept and really works. So much better and more effective than the old aid model of just giving grants. Loans amounts are as low as $300 and go up to $3000+. We've supported everything from bee keepers and dress makers, to furniture makers and drip irrigation projects...and even artificial insemination projects (for livestock that is!) and everything in between.
I arrived in late October (left Portland with less than two weeks notice!) and winged it on my own until Dixie was able to join me on December 30th. With the down economy she couldn't rent the house so just wrapped it up and jumped on a plane with four huge bags (filled mostly with long underwear, peanut butter and several pounds of real coffee!). Must say, it's much more fun to be on an adventure like this with a partner. Dix is fully engaged in multiple volunteer projects and activities and studying Russian two nights a week. Among her projects is the launching of Osh's first Earth Day celebration and a big parks clean-up effort. The organization of it is coming along. She's definitely getting a reputation as that funny foreign lady running around picking up trash everywhere and wagging her finger at little kids when they discard those ubiquitous candy wrappers!
We're getting in a few interesting outings, including a great one to ski down through the oldest and largest walnut forest in the world, and we still hope we can fit in a trip to Pakistan sometime... Obviously not going to be vacationing in the Swat Valley but would love to see some of our old friends and take another trip down memory lane in Lahore.
Well the power is back on. I better press "send" and head out. Would love to hear any news from you as well as from other LAS alums... .
We arrived in Lahore in the summer of 63 and was at LAS for two years. After that we moved to the field until 1969 when we moved back to the states and to Wyoming. (Another job for Tipton & Kalmbach). It would be great to find Don Mosher, David Greenman, Mike Rumph, etc, I see Pat Eckford and Dixie became an item. As I am looking at my 1965 Yaden, it is hard to believe all the adventures and stories we could all tell today and how we have all changed. I see that Melanie Holt has signed on, it will be great to reacquaint as she, Debbie and her folks were also in Wyoming with us on that job.
I am really pleased to find this site, as have been trying to find some of my friends from the past. It will be great to see what path their lives have taken.
Ps. I am on face book in the Indianapolis area for those signed on.

My name is Donald Lee. I am currently the MS/HS music teacher at LAS. I happened upon the reunion website and thought everyone might like to know that 2006 was the 50th anniversary of the school. I presume there will be information about the event posted on the school website as we get closer to the event.
All the best,

I wrote before and gave Someone this info, but that was back in Oct. 2002, and things change as Time moves along!
Rynda McKinney married Pete Christensen in June 1967. They lived for many years in Farmington, NM, then several more in Orem, Utah. Now they are in Madison, a suburb of Nashville, TN. They raised a lovely family of 6 daughters, one of whom was killed in an auto accident back in Sept. 1995. The rest are all married, with children, and scattered from Seattle, WA; SLC, UT; Farmington, NM; and Nashville, TN. Rynda's current email address is: Rynda.Christensen@HCAhealthcare.com
Dari Lynne McKinney married Norman Davis in June 1970. They have always lived in the Wash. D.C. area. Norman will soon be retiring after many years' service with the U.S. Navy as a mechanical engineer,--working on various submarine projects. They currently live in Huntingtown, MD,--about 40 miles SE of Wash. D.C., on the Calvert Co., peninsula, near the Chesapeake Bay. Norman and Dari Lynne had a son, Jared, and dau., Rachel. Jared is married to Christine and they have 3 young sons and a dau. Rachel has a Master's degree in psychology and works in Social Services for the state of MD. She is currently living with her parents. Jared and family also live nearby. Dari Lynne's email address is: nddavis4@comcast.net. Dari has worked many years as a medical transcriptionist.
For those who may remember our other daughters, Debra and Kenna,--Debra married Allen Henrie and still lives in Price, Utah with her family (one son is married and is in SLC, Utah). Her email address is: henrie130@emerytelcom.net
Kenna married Johnathan Onoman and lives in Taylorsville, a suburb of SLC, with her family (one dau. and 2 sons.) Her email address is: k.onoman@comcast.net
Our son, Bruce McKinney, who was born in Lahore in Feb. 1963, lives in the SL valley with his family. He married Richelle Dunn; they have 2 daus. and 2 sons. (Another baby son died a few days after his birth in Dec. 2003.)
As for a short update on ME: After my first husband, Ken McKinney, died of a sudden heart attack in Aug. 2002, I continued to live in Price, Utah for awhile. I'd been working Online with 3 different businesses, and via one of them, in a Chat Room, met Ronald Alexander, a widower then living in Destin, FL, on the panhandle of the state. He had been born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio, but in 1951 he and his wife moved down to Texas, and settled between Houston and Galveston. He was a bldg. contractor for over 40 years there, plus he worked in real estate another 10 years. When his wife passed away from a stroke in April 2002, he sold out everything and moved up to Destin, FL, to live with his son and wife. After writing over 300 emails to each other, also exchanging pics, and phone calls from Nov. 2002 to mid-Jan. 2003, we decided to meet. So I flew down to FL, and stayed in the large house of Ronald's son, while we became better acquainted. We already knew we seemed to be compatible, lonely, and ready for new Life's experiences.
But it didn't take us more than a few HOURS to decide to be married! We were then married on Valentine's Day, 14 Feb. 2003, over in Ft. Walton Beach, a few miles west of Destin. The "Interesting" part of the whole situation was informing my daus. and son, who thought I had gone to Florida to visit some "old friends!" But not many "eggs hit the Fan," and both Rynda and Dari and their husbands were able to travel down for our wedding. 3 weeks later we flew out to Utah to meet the rest of my children, pick up my car, MORE clothes and assorted other Stuff. All my children, grandkids and great grandkidlets love "Ronny" as he is a very kind, caring man. We are extremely happy and know that a Higher Power brought us together, as without modern Technology we would never have met!
We ended up also seeing 3 of Utah's Natl. Parks in the southern part of the state, and even driving out to Calif. to meet my brother and other relatives, from Portola (50 miles north of Lake Tahoe) to Sacramento, the S.F. Bay area, and up the coast for 100 miles. We eventually returned to Florida, after traveling via Colorado, NM, Texas (seeing some of Ronald's old friends around Houston), LA, MS, and AL.
Each summer we have driven back out to Utah to visit my children, while Rynda and Dari have flown or driven down here to Panama City Beach to visit us. Our Utah "excursions" have entailed over 4,000 miles round trips each year, as we explore other states, other scenic places, other Natl. Parks in various states as well.
For reasons which I won't go into here, we decided to settle over in Panama City Beach, 40 miles east of Destin. It is a lovely, resort type of area, and our house is about a mile from the beach. The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico are blue-green, the sands are pure white like snow, and many tourists are attracted down here from the northern states all year around. This whole 23 mile long island is called the Emerald Coast.
I keep in touch with Wells and Donna Corliss, "Dee" Flook, Hal and Ila Bishop, and other couples which students may not remember because they had no children in Lahore. If anyone has any questions, you may write me here: Carol99@knology.net I've enjoyed reading updates on many of you I still remember, and continue to marvel at the myriads of your Life's directions, experiences and memories which are in this WebSite!
Best Wishes to everyone!

I periodically search the Internet for my last name and came across this website. Except much to my surprise the name listed was my older brother, Mark, who was only in Lahore from July-August of 1968. He left quite an impression I gather.
This is Vicki Vestrich. I attended LAS from 1966 - 1969 (6th-8th grades) as well as KAS (Karachi) in 1965, AISK (Kabul) 58-62. I am still in regular contact with Betsey (Boyce) Emory who lives in Tennessee. My mother, Dolores Vestrich, has recently become friends with Helen Carr, mother of twins Danny and Belinda Carr. My mom and Helen did not know each other during the years we lived in Lahore. My father, Alan Vestrich, who worked for USAID, passed away in December 1996 from kidney cancer.
I am married with two children ages 10 and 16. After 3 years in Los Angeles and 17 years in Falls Church, Virginia we moved to Balitmore in 2002.
I have deep and fond memories of my years in Lahore. Of course the middle school years would be seared in anyone's memories no matter where one attended school! In the spring when
On a sad note I can update the LOST list. Glenn Burgess is deceased. I don't know the exact year but it was in the early 80's. He had completed medical school and was a practicing physician before he passed away. I believe his sister Leslie is also deceased. Their mother, Marilyn, died around 1979 from breast cancer. My family was good friends with the Burgess's in Lahore and later when they too lived in the D.C. area.

I am Valérie van Rooij, attended LAS in my 6th - 8th grade in the late 80's - the same class as Theresa Stabile, Cara Lenortavage, Sarah, Gisa Schutze, Bojana Pandurevic, Faisal Ghous. I was the Dutch girl.
I saw Keith Carlsson looking for me, "Keith, I wrote you and hope to be in touch soon!"
As to me, I am very very happily married to Edu living in Cancun, Mexico with our two enlightened daughters and expecting our third!

Of course, many others came and went in the three and a half years we were in Lahore, but they are some of the best
memories of my life.
Jill, Jacquie and John all live in South Carolina, mid-state near Camden, where my parents retired. We lost both parents
2 years ago. I live in Chapel Hill NC and Jeannie lives in Asheville, just a few miles from the Blueridge Parkway.
I am a nurse instructor by preparation and also a family nurse practitioner. My yen for the overseas life led me to spend
2 years on the Navajo Reservation and 2 years in Cairo with Project Hope. Eventually, I just wanted to stay here in the
US and help our people.
I hear from my sister Jacquie that Carol Tipton was in touch through the My Classmates website. Carol, if you read this,
get in touch please.
Please let me hear from friends. Susan susanstrong@bellsouth.net
My sister, Ivy L. Sanderson, attended high school in Lahore from 1967-1969
and graduated in 1969. Ivy passed away in January 1998 from complications
due to multiple sclerosis. A few years after graduating from Lahore
American High School, Ivy met her future husband, a U.S. Foreign Service
officer, while visiting our parents in Khartoum, Sudan. They married in
Khartoum in 1975 and later settled in Falls Church, Virginia. At the time
of her death, Ivy left two children, Alex and Stephanie.
I saw the school only once, when my parents and I drove down from
Islamabad for Ivy's graduation day. I was 6 years younger than Ivy and
attended the International School, which was then in Rawalpindi.

We all have our own memories but one that has struck me lately was when the
local ammunition dump blew up. Can you remember this?
I remember it was show and tell and Paul Domingus was invited to
speak to the class since he had just returned from the States. There was
suddenly a distant thunder clap and then the concrete floor began to roll
and wave as though someone had picked it up at one end and flipped it. Of
course this was followed by an ear piercing explosion and all of us 3rd
graders had no other thought but to run. I think we ran some way into the
trees before Mrs Goldman shouted at us to stop.
Any further memories or an explanation of what had really happened would
clear up this mystery.
With many thanks
Jane

Our family, Velez-Franceschi, lived in Lahore from 1978 - 1982, we left the country upon my graduation. My siblings,

Once again, thank you thank you thank you for this site! I've had the good

This is Sandra Panu Viscardi, Class of 65, even though so much time has gone by I have very
fond memeories of that period, I remember all the good times and friends that were in
Lahore during the sixties.
After graduation in 1965, I returned back to my hometown Genoa, but some time later on a
visit to my parents I met my husband in Tarbela, he was working there at the time, we got
married and lived in Tarbela for a year.
I have have two sons Vittorio (27) and Valerio (15) and a daughter Vania (25). Two are
Industrial designers and the youngest keeps me quite busy as only teens know how to!!!!
Our home base was Milano but we have been abroad for quite some years , we lived in Peru
S.America, then after a break in Italy went to Kuwait and then lived in Singapore, now we
are back home.
My husband Nello now owns his own company, ( metal equipment) and I am busy enough with
my home...
I have had news of the school through my brother and sisters and nieces all along these
years , but never hoped to get as far back as the sixties.
Last year Kathy Koesssner and I met after 35 years it was really wonderful but too short !
I regret I am unable to come to the Savannah 2000 reunion but hope you will think of me
when you are together!!!! I would like to list all the friends I remember but I'm afraid
it's too long a list just all the sixties including little brothers and sisters!
Sincerely Sandi.
Dave Sturdevant, Mike Mulroney, Kim Mumby, Rich Frase
were a few of the students I remember well. Recently those memories were
refreshed by looking thru some of the yearbooks
(that I had been keeping for Brenda) and I hope that I'll be able
to attend a future reunion.
Currently my wife Patricia & I live in Plano (suburb of Dallas)

years and went to Convent of Jesus & Mary there. We moved to Lahore after
the "little war" and our father took over 4 hotels in Lahore, Rawalpindi,
Peshawar and Murree. We probably would have been the only Australians in
the school at the time. If anyone has the Yaden for 67-68, it would be
great to be posted on a site. I don't know where ours is. My parents and
Shelly live on the Gold Coast in Queensland (Australia) and my husband,
Kim, and I live in Margaret River, Western Australia. My parents still have
t-chests that are packed and they've been retired for years! You know how
it is. We have 3 girls and 1 boy and now we are grandparents for the third
time. I see that living in Pakistan affects everyone the same way. It was
an important part of our growing up! Anyway I don't want to bombard you
with too much info. I've seen a few familiar names on this site. Marina.

LAS 67-68 with my sister Marina (2 yrs older). I was only 11 yo at the time and from memory (after all I have survived
the 60s-70s) I was in the 7th grade. I know my sister was initiated into the Freshman year whilst we were there (a ritual
I'll never forget, and glad I was gone before it was my turn!). I used to sit next to Fred Flook in class and remember
him always with his head in his desk eating peanutbutter sandwiches. My bestest friend at school there was Mary McFarland
(does anyone know where she is?), and Pepe Norton - sadly I see he's deceased. I'll have to tell my sister about this site
because she's the "memory" of the family (I'm sure she remembers her birth!) and she'll be blissed at all the familiar
names. A couple of people spring to mind. The Gamble Twins, Julie and Janet, of course Fred Flook, Ali (I know there
were 1000s of them). My father used to manage The Faletti's Hotel while we lived in Lahore, after being headhunted from
the Intercontinental Hotel in Karachi (when Oberoi was sent packing in 67). Would love to hear from anyone who remembers
me, probably better than I remember them. Have lost my LAS Yearbook (one BIG regret with all the travel) and would
welcome ANY suggestions of how to obtain a copy 67/68. I'm living on the Gold Coast, in Queensland, Australia - so if any
of you are planning a trip down under, please let me know.

I just returned from my first trip back to the Indian subcontinent in 40+ years! Although I didnt make it across the
border to Lahore, I was in Delhi, Agra, and Rajasthan. It brought back so many memories and it is good to know that the
soul of South Asia has not changed. So many things were the same! I was there during the wonderful cricket matches
between Pak and India - the detente that developed just from the friendly sport rivalry was incredible! the local papers
were full of nothing else, with wonderful things to say about the Pakistani hosts. There was also much press about
encouraging tourism once more to Kashmir and news about the opening of the more southerly border crossing in Rajasthan.
So promising! I can't wait to get back -- and this time to Pakistan and Kashmir!

I attended LAS from Kindergarten (1970) - 9th grade (1979). So many
memories! I remember that big hill that we loved
to race our matchbox cars down through the roots until the administration
decided we were
getting too dirty and leveled it. I can remember long hot afternoons at the
pool or playing soccer after school. The cold thirst quenching RC colas from
Surti.
The exploring and trouble we got into as we climbed on to the roof, found
every closet and hidden room in
that old house. The trips to Delhi, Islamabad, and Karachi on assorted
sports
teams. We never won but we always thought we had a chance and our spirit
was never failing. The trip to Kabul for the multimedia convention when we
were caught in the middle of a coup and had to wait it out and then travel
by Bus back to Pakistan. The murals we painted to brighten things up.
Working on the Alif Laila book bus. The halloween carnivals where putting
the boys in Jail and getting yourself and girlfriends out added to all the
emotional angst of those adolescent years. The science club trips were
amazing experiences not only for the culture and history that one learned
but the bonding that occurred between friends who spent so much time with
each other. As so many others have said its hard to explain what the
experience was like but it was profound and a wonderful place to grow up.
I'm now in Boston. I'm an Obstetrician/Gynecologist and I teach residents
and medical students at Harvard. I've been married for 11 years and have a
daughter Kira who is 8 and a son Erik who will turn 4 next month. My

years in Pakistan?" We said "Sure, where is it?" We were always glad that we went. After we returned to the states he
kept working for a few years but then retired early. He had a whole second life that included a renewed interest in
Japan, a career as a movie extra, (he made videos with Sammy Hager and Lou Rawls), a docent at the South Coast Botanical
Gardens and lots more travels. He and my Mom spent thier 50th anniversary in India. After mom died he moved to Stockton

failure. He always remembered his friends from Pakistan and our great adventures there with great fondness. My husband
works with a fellow who grew up in Gazi, which was the Pakistani town next to the Dam. He still has family there and says

It was great when i came across this site by chance. I recognize lot of
names when i went through the messages. This reminded me of good old days
when the sun use to shine and every morning was awaited to go to LAS. All
those teachers and staff who was not only our teacher, mender but our friend
and guide.I believe they guided us through all those times of fun and joy
and enjoyment for the realities of today. They were the greatest for me and
for my then classmates and friends, and for the rest of the school pupils.
They were the guiding lights for us. When i compare the teachers or friends
of our times with that of my kids, I feel sorry for them for they don't
enjoy the same old good times and friendships that we had.We had a pure time
free of pollution of today of prejudices, interior motives and formalities.
We had great times even without money at times, and very little but precious
times that we use to get from our parents whom we had lot of repect and
praise for. Las was the greatest school with great teachers and great
pupils. They may have not been great success but they were the greatest
students who were also in return respected by the teachers. We learned a lot
from the then teachers who taught us the lessons of life and how to succeed
within ourselves i.e. Mrs.Akmal,Col.Hassan,Mr.Frank Gellespie "Mr.G." who
was our friend and our teacher, coach and everything that one wants at that
age of time.Today, all the three that i mentioned above may not be in this
world but they shall always live in our hearts and minds for as long as we
live!!!!! and my salutes to all those who are alive.May they live long!!
I am in touch with lot of friends i.e.Tehseen Khakwani,Amir Malik,Ghais Mela
Danny Choudry the scoundral and lot many others who are here in Lahore with
me but i would like to get in touch with all the rest of the student of Las
who were either in my class or with me or knew me to fresh my memories of
Las including the teachers and the Las staff!!!!!
Aaha! at last i feel alive again and all those memories that were put a-back
for so many years after the graduation in 81 have come back to me and feel
young once again, and nostalgic of the past in Las.

Lahore Christmas Eve 1963 and our parents, Bob and Jane, signed us(Ray,
Bill and I) up for school right after New Years. Ray was in 2nd and 3rd
and Bill was in K and 1st. I have great memories of Lahore and the
school. I had a great 5th grade teacher. I really enjoyed the Scout
Troop I belonged to which was supported by the school and the parents. I
remembered the train trip to Manhglah( I think I butchered the spelling)
Dam that MK was constructing and competing with the other Scout troop
there. I remembered the Scout Master picking up all the switch blades we
bought at a train stop. I was only 11 and didn't buy one. The
Scoutmaster couldn't believe I didn't buy one because every body else
did. On one camp out one evening we made some dice from an apple
somebody brought. We were getting ready to do some gambling in our tent
when one of the Scout leaders broke up our game and I was scared he was
going to tell my Dad. On another Scout outing we made a bike trip to a
park that had a big tree full of big bats. I learned how to swim that
summer in the school pool and also took reading in summer school.

32 "kids" came from all across America to make the weekend event a rousing
success. The aim of the reunion was to gather together as many former
students that were in Lahore from 1960 - 1966. All classes from 1964 - 1970
were well represented.
The weekend affair started with a buffet dinner in a 60s oriented restaurant
quickly followed by a gathering in one of the hotel's meeting rooms that had
been set aside for our use. Most stayed until the early hours of the morning
swapping stories of events that had transpired in their lives over the past
37 years.
On Saturday we gathered together with the intent of doing a civil war tour of
Harpers Ferry, Antietam, and Gettysburg. Well as you can imagine trying to
get 7 cars of revellers going in the same direction at the same speed proved,
like one of the attendees stated, was more like herding cats than an
orchestrated event. Well all in all most enjoyed the scenery, the gorgeous
weather, the barbeque at a roadside stop and two of the sites that we
intended to see. For the sake of being dressed, refreshed and ready for the
evening dinner we skipped going to Gettysburg and headed back to Frederick.
Saturday night's dinner was a Pakistani / Indian feast where 30 attendees
consumed all sorts of delicacies and listened to 60s music on CDs. No one
came away hungary or disappointed. One attendee brought large maps of Lahore
and most tried to remember where to place their pin indicating where they may
have lived so many years ago. Well, of course, Billy Greenman, needed almost
a half dozen to mark his territory.
On Sunday morning a group of 15 got together for brunch while the remainder
headed to airports, train stations, and via car back to their homes in
Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, California, and Oregon.
There was much sharing of addresses, phone #s, e-mail addresses and such as
the event broke up with more than enough hugs going around to last us all at
least for a couple of days. There was lots of talk on where we were going to
do this again on how to bring together others that attended Savannah or
hadn't made either event for the next reunion. The one consensus was that it
was not going to be more than 2 years before we did this again.
Pictures will follow from those that attended so those of you that couldn't
make the event can see how much fun they missed. Many thanks to Billy
Greenman for acting as our chauffeur so that no one needlesly had to rent a
car, to Tom Coorsh for making up those great name badges with those ugly
pictures of us on them, to Letha Wheeless (Schriver) for the great maps of
Lahore, and to Becky Turner (Prosch) for the great pictures from Savannah.

I currently live in Seattle, work for the local blood bank; I worked at Microsoft for a while, and have been a musician

about all that.

Welcome to Susan Akram, who signed in on
October 10th and wrote: Mark, and fellow LAS-er's: What a great site, Mark, thank you for maintaining
it. this is Susan Akram, '74 graduate of LAS. I'm ashamed to say this is the
first time I'm signing on. I recently accessed the site for the first time
because Meral Murat-Khan was here visiting from Lahore and we were trying to
find out about some of our colleagues. Very sad to see the news about Wes
Fisk. Does anyone know how he died? I have seen or kept up with a few of my
classmates and other LAS folks: besides Meral, I have seen Saquib Saigol
(last summer when I was in Lahore), Kamran Zali, Asif Saigol, Sergio Panu,
Tony Yusuf, Audie Chaudhry (some years ago). I just recently re-connected
with Amra Kevic, who is now in the Netherlands, working as a translator at
the ICTY. She has a 4-year old son, Marco. I regularly see and talk to the
Lowdermilks--mostly Mel, who is in London with three children. Nadine (Bowes)
Murphy has sent me wonderful pictures of several of the LAS reunions. As for
myself and my family: I teach at Boston Univ. law school, in the fields of
immigration, comparative refugee law, and international human rights. I have
a husband of 15 years, Jeff Boshar, and a daughter Shireen. My sister Alice
(Akram), brother John Akram and sister Mariana Akram all live in Michigan.
Many of you knew my mother, Portia Akram, who taught at LAS for years. She
passed away in November of 1998 after a difficult battle with a brain tumor.
I have made about six trips to Pakistan since leaving in 1975; we were there
last summer for a family wedding in Karachi, and stayed with Meral in Lahore
(who has three kids with husband Salim). Lahore looks beautiful, but the
country is in a mess stuck between Afghanistan and US policy. That's it for
now. My best to all old friends, and get in touch! Susan Akram.
Welcome to Carol McKinney, who signed in on
October 8th and wrote: HI THERE~~!
Jim Schwartz recently sent me this WebSite, and I've been
reading amd reliving many fond memories of our 5.5 yrs. in
Lahore. Thought you'd like some updates on our family, and
especially new email addresses for Rynda and Dari.
We arrived there in early March 1960, and left in the great
evacuation of Sept. 1965, via the 7 big Air Force planes sent
over from Tehran, because of the war then raging between
Pakistan and India. (So....what else is new?!) I still have
several snapshots I took of those planes, with some of the
kids sitting on suitcases out at the airport waiting to board.
My husband, Ken McKinney, was with the Tipton & Kalmbach
engineering company, out of Denver, CO. Arriving with us were
our 4 young daus., Rynda, almost 12; Dari, 9; Debra, 5; and
Kenna (who turned 2 yrs. on March 5th, or the day we arrived.)
We had a son, Bruce, who was born in the old Lahore Christian
Hospital, on March 10, 1963.
Rynda, who married Pete Christensen of Farmington, NM, and
had 6 daus. is now living with him in Nashville, TN. Anyone
wishing to know further news may contact her at: Rynda.Christensen@HCAhealthcare.com
They now have 11 grandkidlets!
Dari married Norman Davis, while working back in Wash.D.C.
for the Government, and recently moved from Springfield, VA,
to Huntingtown, MD, on the Calvert Co. peninsula. They have
a son and a dau.; the son and his wife have 3 small sons of
their own. The dau. is now attending graduate school at the
Univ. of Northern VA, with a major in Psychology. You may
contact Dari at: nddavis@gis.net
Debra married Allen Henrie, of Price, UT, back in 1972, and
has always lived there. They have 3 sons and a dau. You
may contact Debra via her son, Scott's email address:
henrie130@emerytelcom.net
Kenna married Johnathan Onoman of Provo, UT, and they
live in a Salt Lake City suburb, with their 12 yr. old dau. and 2
younger sons. Their email address: kujout@juno.com
Bruce married Richelle Dunn of SLC, and they have 2 daus.
and 2 sons. They live in Draper, in the SE corner of the SL
Valley. Bruce was only 2.5 when we were evacuated from
Lahore so has no memories of Pakistan! His email address:
brjabk@att.net
When our family was evacuated from Pakistan, we returned
to our home in Sacramento, CA. Ken once again worked for
the Calif. State Water Resources, where he'd been before.
This time we lived south of Fresno, then Bakersfield. In 2.5
yrs. we moved to Utah, where Ken was with the Utah State
Water Rights for 8.5 yrs., first in Cedar City, then Price. By
that time both Rynda and Dari were married.
In early 1977 we moved to just north of Tampa, FL, where Ken
was a Project Engineer for Florida State Water Well programs.
Only Bruce went with us, as Debra was also married by then
and Kenna off on her own, back in Price, UT.
After living in a sauna-like atmosphere for nearly 4 years, Ken
decided it was too much, and he applied for a position with
Maryland State Water Resources. He was chosen over 50 other
applicants, and we moved up to Annapolis, on the Chesapeake
Bay. We enjoyed our lives there for 11 yrs., until he retired in
Dec. 1991, Then we once more moved back to Price, UT.
We had nearly 11 years of peaceful existence here, did some
traveling, took an Alaskan cruise, and enjoyed seeing our
granchildren grow up. Some of them have also married by
now and we have 14 great-grandkidlets to date! Wonder
where all the years have flown by......?
We kept in touch with many of those we once knew in Lahore,
including Sid and Louise Allsop (living in Orem, UT) Bob and
Jane Amoureux (in northern Idaho), Clarence and Shirley
Erickson (she died of cancer 2.5 yrs. ago; Clarence moved
back to his hometown of St. Joseph, MO) 3 of their kids live
in the SLC area and the oldest son, Ted, in Colo. Springs.
Made contact 2 yrs. ago with Garth, Marie Jones (now in
Alaska) and their 2 sons, Duke and Kevin, in SLC. Have also
resumed contact, via email, with Wells and Donna Corliss,
now in Ogden, UT. When Clarence Erickson comes out, we
have all been getting together in SLC for an Indian dinner!
Wells has given me email addresses of the Bolgers and a
few others we used to know back in Lahore.
I'm sure all of us have unforgettable memories of those past
years in Lahore, and it's Great that so many of our children
can keep in touch, too.
Wishing everyone Peace and Happiness in times to come!

P.S.
Ken recently passed away on Aug. 6, 2002, of heart problems,
at age 77 yrs. All our daus. and son were able to visit before
that, and were at his funeral with their families.

brought back many memories and faces. I was a teacher at LAS in 1978?-80,
and was also girls' basketball coach. I teach at the University of North
Dakota in
Grand Forks, North Dakota, and am also a professional writer. My most
recent book published two months ago was illustrated by my son Joshua, who
is now studying to attain his Ph.D. in English Literature from the
University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Joshua was a two year old when we
lived in Lahore. I wonder
if anyone could help me find out about Daniela Panu, or Gul-Rukh Saeed, who
attended LAS in the late 70's and early 80's? Always have wondered how their
lives went. Many bright, gifted students came out of that school, and I
learned much from the students at LAS. I wonder if anyone would know how I
might contact Bahed Masih, who was our cook then, and continued in that
capacity
for other Americans.
My best to all, and would like to hear from you.

Welcome to Bert McIntosh, who signed in on
September 21st and wrote: My name is Bert McIntosh, HS Science Teacher @ LAS l972-74.
The San Diego Reunion of 1992 was the last time I have seen many LASers. I have kept in
contact(more or less) with Greg Flanders, so have received much of the LAS news. Since the
death of my wife of 52 years, Margaret, on 28Aug, I have been blessed with many notes of sympathy
from ex-students, parents, friends, and faculty. Thanks to all of you.
Hopefully, I'll make it to the next reunion. There is something magic about having been to
LAS and I think we never lose it.
This is my first visit to the website and I am very favorably impressed...
Thanks,
Bert

I'm so glad I found this page. You knew me as Angie (Angelika) Heuer from Germany. I
attended LAS from 1967-1969. And when I left school I thought I'd never see anyone of you
again. It seemed like looking for a small needle in a huge haystack - as we say - the
chances to find it aren't so good. But internet made it possible. Now Germany is "almost
nextdoors". And getting in contact is only a mouseclick away. There are so many familiar
names on the list of email addresses. And the photos are great. I forgot all the work I
had to do and I spent a night looking at hundreds of photos and my yearbooks to "update"
my memories. I hope some of you will be interested to contact me and tell me about your
last 30 years. Meeting would even be better. If you happen to come to Germany one of these
days, just hop in and drink a cup of coffee with me... Otherwise we'll have to wait for the
next reunion. Hope to hear from you soon, Angie.

you who missed, really did miss. Don't make that same mistake more than
twice...LOL. Things here in Missouri are busy with the election of a dead
person to the U.S. Senate and a new governor. Our former Senator, Mr.

basically enjoy being in the Big Apple. My sister Liz lives in San Jose,
California, divorced and has two grown children and two adorable grandsons.
My brother Gene is divorced and was living in San Jose as well until he
found himself a great gal from Australia and moved himself to Perth,
Australia back in January. My telephone number is 212-879-4997 and my
office email is Seifert@olnick.com. I would
love to hear from my long lost pals from '62-'64. Thank you again, for this
fabulous site. Salam Ali Khum (spelling???) Barbara Seifert

parents live in Alaska. I went to college there for a year also. Every
summer I return and go fishing. Usually for salmon and halibut. Last
year I pulled in a couple of fifty pound king salmon. Kevin and I are
still playing softball. I have had a team in the city league since
l992. Every year we have finished first or second. This year we had a
new score keeper. After the game she said to me"I didn't think you guys
were going to be that good but you sure can hit the ball'. I think we
won the game 18 to 4. After leaving LAS in l969 we moved to Hawaii. I
went to Kahuku High School. It was much different than LAS. There was
no chemistry class but there were lots of good football players.Kevin is
an attorney for the Department of Interior here in Salt Lake. He knows

Briefly, my mother was taken ill, and so I went back to the Pacific islands

graduated there 1 year behind my normal class (stayed with my mother) in
1969. Had we stayed in Lahore I wouldve been in the class of '68. My sister,
Hilaria attended KAS after we went to Kathmandu. She is currently in Salem,
Oregon.
I was attending the Univ. of Hawaii, Guam and during a semsester break
entered the service where I was picked to attend the Military Academy Prep

To make a long story short...currently an Officer with our Dept. of Defense

Oh yes, Frank Oresteen '69, found him through Classmates.com will be tickled
pink when I give him this web site. He just retired from the Army and
currently resides in Georgia. We are both musicians on the side still...he

being a Polynesian (what else) band the Tropical Storm...ok enough of the

I would like to know if anyone has heard from Mark Ensner and Ashley

to recall the German guy...Eric...who's father I believe was a contractor or

I also own Europes Most Famous Karaoke Bar...EDs BAR (Ha ha ha..what else
right) and our web site, with live cameras should be up and running by mid
May: www.edsbar.com
Located here in Grafenwoehr, largest live fire traning ground in Europe,

I'm planning on Savannah. Please come if you're sitting on the fence.
There are some names missing from the site, if someone can help me obtain

job. We went from Pakistan to Peru (1970-1974) and then my parents

we had only four players on the court due to some fouling out. I scored a
couple of points in a humiliating loss. Anyway, I'm looking for any of the
Thivierges. Julie was a cheerleader in '72, I think. She, her sister Ann
and brother Justin moved to Manila in '74. I'm trying to connect with them.
If anyone knows their whereabouts, please email me at jclongnavy@aol.com.
I'm glad that you are carrying on the tradition of LAS. It meant a lot to me

attended LAS in the early sixties. Sister Julie, who was a preschooler in
1961-63, now calls Boston home. Our family was part of the Ford Foundation
contingent based in Lahore during the early sixties. While I've not been
back to Pakistan very often since my Lahore days, I've continued to bounce
around other places in Asia over the past three decades - working primarily
for the UN (most recently in Vietnam) and USAID. Much of my work has been in
family planning/reproductive health (similar to what my father was doing in
Lahore nearly 40 years ago). I had assumed that everyone from my Lahore
period was lost to follow-up long ago, but your web site offers new
possibilities for reestablishing contact. Good job! Andrew Kantner

(amicably) in 1978. I now live in Los Angeles and I am CFO of Hollywood
Center Studios, an independent film and television studio that my company
bought in 1984 at a bankruptcy auction. It was formerly Zoetrope Studios
owned by Francis Coppola. The studio was originally built in the early
1900's and has continuously operated since then. Before joining the studio
in 1984 I worked for Electrosound Productions as a production manager. We
packaged sound and lighting for concert tours and Broadway shows.
I own a horse, love to cook and I am an avid birdwatcher. My husband, Tom,
and I travel every chance we get. He works for the Disney Channel as a
Director of Production Finance and travels to different movie locations
throughout the world. In fact, he is leaving for Australia and New Zealand
on February 28th for 3 weeks. My stepdaughter Danielle is fourteen and is a
freshman at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta, California. She is
a good student and is very active in cheerleading and dance. We are
extremely proud of her.
I am especially interested in finding Annie Altfillisch and Shari Beeson.
Annie was a couple of years younger than I but I adored her. She had a
beautiful horse and we took lessons together at the Police Stables. Shari
and I were best friends when I was a sophomore (joined at the hip) and she
left for college right after graduation. I was sorry to miss the San Diego
reunion, especially since it was practically in my back yard and the last
time I saw Shari she lived in the SD area.
Life was good in Lahore and I was heartbroken to leave. I spent my lonely
senior year at Langley High School in McLean Virginia where I had to take
gym class with the freshman so I could graduate. (There was no phys ed
program at LAS when I attended.) I would love to hear from fellow classmates
so please email me at cindyi@hollywoodcenter.com.

I feel lucky to have Judy and her husband, Ted Cota living in nearby

in nearby Lakewood. Adam is a soccer champion and straight 'A' student;
Ryan is into baseball, basketball, and trumpet-playing. He, too, is a
straight A student, but both boys are finding it harder all the time to keep

I have fond memories of our days in Lahore with many of you as students and
friends. In fact, I'm so happy with high school students that I'm still
doing substitute teaching in the Aurora and Denver public schools. There are
many who are good company. We won't talk about the others. I teach English

Welcome to Alice Ratliff, who checked in on
November 9th and wrote: I'm glad you set up this website which I just found out about. It's
been great hearing from people I haven't heard from in 25 years. I live
in Durham with my husband, two kids, dog, three cats and various other
creatures from time to time. I have great fun being a Duke fan teaching
at Carolina (law school). I still play lots of tennis and am real
involved with lots of community activities, particularly with the
public schools. My family, including my dad (we couldn't get Mom to go
because she still hates to fly) went to India almost two years ago.
While there, we went to Lahore. It was wonderful to go back. We too
found our old house and went to LAS which looked remarkably the same
other than the additions to the place. Look forward to seeing lots of
people in Savannah.
My sister, Katherine, and brother, John, are also both doing well.
Katherine is in Franklin, Tenn and John is in Keene, NH.

Welcome to Judy (Goudie) Andersen, who checked in on

a call from Jim Schwartz this weekend telling me about this website. I remember many of you:
Kathy Rooney, Tom Gaines, Jim Bender, Kathy and Harold Koessner, the French girls. I have been
married to Jim for 33 years. We have two children and two grandchildren. We met in College at
Utah State and started our lives together in Redlands, CA, then to Burns, OR, Worland WY and
finally to Craig, CO. We have been in CO for 19 years and will probably never leave. I have
kept in contact with Bobbi Bolger Fishburn and have recently talked to John Erenhardt who was
in Pakistan in '63 & '64 but did not attend LAS.
We are going to try to make the reunion in Georgia. I would love to hear from you all. I plan

Welcome to Hassan Altaf (Mahmood)('85), who checked in on
November 7th and wrote: I only attended for one year in 1984-85 but I can proudly say that I
graduated from LAS. After graduation, I returned to Toronto where I
qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked in the profession for several
years. I went back to Lahore for 2 1/2 years in early 1996 and worked at
Coopers & Lybrand consulting. During this time I visited LAS campus and met
with Mrs. Saleem on a couple of occasions. It was great to be back on campus
but I definitely felt like I didn't belong there anymore.
From Lahore I left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in fall 98 and worked with Ernst
& Young consulting as a senior manager in corporate finance. Several months
back I joined one of my Jeddah based clients and now manage their overseas
investments in Europe and N.America.
I'm married to Saima (LAS 92) since early 97 and we were blessed with a baby
boy back in April this year. Unfortunately, I have not been in touch with
many of my old classmates/friends and would love to hear from anyone that
remembers a "quiet riot" that came for one year from Canada.

on to the American School in New Dehli for her senior year. During that year we lived at
43T in Gulberg not to far from David (my best friend) and Bobbie Bolger (my sisters best
bud). I saw a lot of familiar names that brought back even more memories. James Schwartz
tracked me down and sent me this site over e-mail. I have forwarded it on to my sister. I
saw Cynthia Brush was looking for Dari and Rynda McKinney. I think I can track them down
through their parents, who last I heard were retired and living in Price, UT not far from
Salt Lake City where I live. If I can find them I'll send them the information also so
they can check in. Thanks for a great trip down memory lane.

It is hard to believe that it has been so many years since all of that

Shedrick, Afua, Abena and I (Charlene) are well. After leaving LAS, we
settled in Chapel Hill, NC for eight years where I completed a master of
public health degree. The suitcases in the closet started rattling in 1993
and we decided to move to The Four Corners area (Farmington, New Mexico to
be exact). I am the Public Health Nutritionist for 22 communities in the
Shiprock area of the Navajo Nation. Shedrick is a mediator and conflict
resolution trainer which takes him into many different schools and school
systems not only in NM, but also across the country. Afua is a junior at
Earlham College (Indiana) studying computer science and Peace and Global
Studies. Abena enters her sophomore year at Columbia and deciding on a
major. Shedrick and I are making plans to walk a full marathon (26.2 miles)
in the year 2000, possibly in Shiprock where I was the race director of the
1999 Shiprock Marathon and a member of the marathon committee since 1994.

School in Madrid, Spain and at a super private school in Dallas, Texas, where I
earned national recognition as a distinguished elementary school principal
from the USA Dept of Education and was on national nightly news 2 years
ago. This past June, I moved to Virginia near Washington DC and am preparing to
change careers as soon as I can figure out what I want to do next. I also
parachuted out of an airplane so am looking for more adventure! Mr. Stabile
now lives in Montreal with his wife of two years and is in the computer
business. He had a stroke a few years ago at age 56 so sadly, has given up
drumming and guitar, but aside from a difficulty with one hand, he is in
good shape. Theresa is a medic for the US army and is stationed in Hawaii with
her husband, Erik. I am looking for Mrs. Stella Akhtar's address, Mrs.
Barutski's and Mrs. Schutze's, and would appreciate receiving that info
from someone. I am in frequent contact with Mrs. Rajput (PE).and Mr. and Mrs.
Pilon (Guidance counselor/library). I think Mr. and Mrs. Jones are in
Wyoming and are living on land they cleared and a house they built in the wide open
spaces. Hope you are all well and happy! I would love to hear from you.

LAS home page from my era.
I am currently married (Liz) and living in Wisconsin (Appleton) and California (Westlake Village)

I have moved around a lot since I left Lahore in September 1966 and graduated from Ankara Turkey
and then attended college at Virginia Tech and graduated in 1970. I was happy to have run into
the Miller sisters (Carol & ?) who also were in the class of 1966 and both attended Tech as well.
I will send more information on old class mates at a later time but just wanted to add my entry
to your growing list. Thanks for the memories of good years. If anyone knows the whereabouts
of David ('66) and Sally Douglass ('67) I would love to know. I lost touch with them in the
early 70's. David graduated from the University of Maryland and was in the army for a few years

Welcome to Kashif Siddiqui, who checked in
August 20th and wrote: "I was dreamin when I wrote this, so sue me if I go 2 fast..." Alright,
alright, no PRINCE stuff tonight. For all of you that care to know, I
was into PRINCE, and am into THE ARTIST still to this day. Who am I?
My name is Kashif Siddiqui, and I was formerly a student at LAS. I got
out in 1991. Sounds like I am talking about jail or something.
Anyways, I moved to Pakistan in 1986, and initially attended Aitchison
College for a year. Talk about culture shock! An all boys school,
where I took many a beating from teachers for such technicalities as not
having short enough hair, or not being able to read Urdu properly.
After a year, I had had about enough of it, and off I went the school
residing on Al-Riaz Canal bank. When I graduated in 1991, I thought the
great times were still ahead of me. Looking back now, those years at
LAS were probably the greatest if not craziest times that I have ever
had. I have never really been able to recapture that sort of carefree,
"nothing can stop me" mindset since I left LAS in 1991. Not to say
that life has been bad since. I am now working as an account manager at
R.R. Donnelley & Sons in the financial district of Manhattan. As far as
LAS is concerned, the school provided little in terms
of learning, ( I was never into my books) but was certainly the place
where I can look back and trace the origins of virtually all the
friendships that I currently have. Whether it was Habib Khan and Feisal
Kheiri insisting that we have roast beef cheeseburgers at Salt N Pepper,
Aamir Saleem and I rocking to Axl Rose and company, Nasir Khan's awesome
stereo system and even more fantastic ability to drive me around all
night and allow me to test my jumping ability, Faisal Hadri's ability to
have Fatima Owais do his homework all throughout highschool, the trials
and tribulations of the foursome of Mariam T, Basma, Amina, and Fatima,
and ofcourse Mujtaba Moyene and Zahoor Hussain keeping the war on, LAS
served as the birthplace of all these memories. I miss it greatly.
That's life though. For all those mentioned, peace to y'all. I miss
you all. Let me know how life is progressing. Thanks.

Welcome to Nanette Dice Eichell, who checked in
August 7th and wrote: I found the site one day at work, and was so excited to hear of
long lost friends and connections from LAS. So last week, in the steamy,
uncomfortable days of the drought, I wanted to add my own connection: Here
in Brentwood, New Hampshire, it is the air of waiting which takes me back to
Fountain Road and LAS. Names that smile--Jody Studebaker, Cyndi Brush, Ray
Stark, Allen Clark, Leigh (Lynn) Rooney, the Kathy's (my mother's name for
them)--on and on, happy memories of less tangled times. In the barn my
horses look at me to wave my magic wand about the heat, the sweat, the bugs.
The three barn cats lie uselessly about like furry sausages, and our
intrepid Flat Coated retriever dreams of those hours sleeping in our one air
conditioned bedroom. At the Chelmsford (Mass.) Public Library whiere I am
assistant director, the staff fights crankiness and disinterest. More
accustomed to 25 degree days, they are grateful for the resources of the Web
which yeilds up old high school sites as well as tax forms for our patrons.
My long-time husband, Tink, thinks about golf or maybe mowing. And we all
wait. Have the clouds built up high enough in the West? Is that the wind?
Of course, here in New England, we are waiting for a Canadian high (Thank
you Gary and Elena Leitch!), not the monsoon. We don't have abrading dust
storms, knee high rains, or wall-to-wall flying ants. But for the first
time in a long time, it surely is a gift to talk to people who've been
there. Hi, everyone! See you in Savannah. Thank you, Mark; thank you

Sikunder Marad in ping pong, swim meet at Tarbela Dam, and boar hunting

A growing list of LAS alumni e-mail addresses is available on our visitors page, which can be viewed alphabetically, by class year, or by order of appearance. If you have not already checked in and added your name to the list, please take a moment to do so now by clicking here (This will generate an email to the site which will be reviewed and posted by the webmaster). The 1997 Calgary LAS reunion was a great event, and the pictures prove it.
The 1992 San Diego LAS reunion was also an unqualified success, as you know if you were there. If you weren't there, here's a list of people you missed seeing -- and here's a picture of some of them at the beach! We have been unable to locate the following alums. If you know where they are, please let us know.
John Strong October 18, 1948 - October 12, 2007
Susan Strong November 18,1946 - February 3, 2009
For those of you that are not from those early years at LAS, Johnny was an extremely adventurous young lad and the only other 10 year old in Lahore the summer of 1959 for me to hang out with. Where we went, also went his huge German shepard, Rinty. Johnny spoke good Punjabi and was an excellent kite flier. Mornings were spent slaughtering frogs on the canal behind my house with his slingshot, afternoons were spent tooling around on our bikes and getting into mischief (wedding bombs under charpoys of sleeping chowkidars behind HICOs at the circle) or swimming at the consulate pool. I lost track of Johnny after the family left Lahore, but I believe he was also at the American School in Istanbul. Susan was older than I and I dont recall much other than she was very popular and had lots of boy friends."

I currently reside at 4545 S. Hearthside Drive, New Berlin, WI 53151, with my wife Cathy and

Though I can't say I remember her, I was at LAS the same years: in 2nd
through 6th grades.
Cruising the LAS site has jarred the memory a bit: Stanley Schlorholtz used
to pound on me, Ellen Gray and Pam Hinish are familiar names, and, closer to
my age, Matt Lorber, Mark Dunlap, Jackie Tipton, Diane Howard. Other than the
airlift to Tehran in '65, it's still all a bit hazy, though a similar odor or
some peculiar combination of lighting and atmosphere will send me back to the
old markets, movie houses, desert, Swat, Khyber. Anybody remember Chunga
Munga? I'll have to dig out the old year books.
Now I'm an architect who sails and races motorcycles. Amazing where we end
up.

A member of the class of '87, I guess: I never actually graduated from LAS.
I attended LAS from September '81 until the middle of grade 10, Christmas
1984. Went back home and finished high school at Lower Canada College
in Montreal, Canada, and went on to Queen's University
at Kingston, eventually earning an honors degree in
Political Studies and English Literature in 1992. Naturally, I went on to
work in the software business.
My little brother Robert, who spent time in LAS's
lovely junior school, actually wound up finishing high school just down the
road at AES in New Delhi. He then went on to the University of Toronto,
doing a double major in Sociology and Political Science. He's currently
working with CIBC Insurance in Mississauga, just outside of Toronto.
I'm happy to hear from others who did time in the early-mid 80's at LAS.
Just drop me a line at george@scriban.com.

crowding in on your LAS site!). Karachi was an experience that woke me up
from a humdrum American kid existence and really opened my eyes to the rest of
the world. Amazing how many things I remember with great clarity after all
these years. Was back to Karachi for only a few hours in 1987 - dashing about
town with a work crew, it was surprising how many times I paused to point out
sights and sites and buildings that I hadn't thought about in over two
decades! I had a chance to break off for about two hours, and with a driver
found the old PECHS school just before dark...got out and walked around, the
place was then a health center, but the buildings looked much the same
(although the neighborhood sure didn't!). Can't believe I just missed the
KAS reunion - I live in Bethesda MD, about 20 mins. away :(. I played
trumpet in the band under Mrs. Scott, and yes, I actually remember those Big
Kids Bob Gardner and Eric Moody - - - back when I was too afraid to talk to
them....!!
20 minutes and 33 years away....and I missed it....

Welcome to Eric Moody, who checked in September 13th and wrote: Hello, I'm another KAS'er joining Bob Gardner in attending the upcoming KAS re-union later this month. I went to KAS during the early 60s (62-66).
Pakistan was the first place I'd ever lived outside of the United States and
I found it mysterious, different, HOT, strange & wonderful and a little bit
frightening. But, I got to do many things that I would never have done
living in the US. Things like a campout in Swat, raise pigeons, travel by
train to Peshawar, live through black-outs and air-raids, ride a camel and
swim in the Indian Ocean. Mostly I remember a gracious and accomodating host
country where I made many friends.

It tore out my heart to leave everyone. I have stayed in touch with several people....but I would love to hear from more! Saddly, my marriage to Jan Zabinski didn't work out and we were divorsed in 1984. A lot has happened to me since that time. I've gone on to establish a national and international reputation as an artist. In 1992 I started taking groups of artists all over the world for painting hoildays. In 1997, Andrew Norris from LAS and I organized a painting trip to England for artists. This year I married Howard Friedland. He is a fantastic artist and instructor. Together, the two of us are leading 30 artists to Venice, Itlay - October 1st through the 10th for a fantastic 10 days of painting and touring. something like this. Visiting this site has brought back a bunch of great
memories ... the times we skipped class, the times we goofed off, and most
important of all, the great times we had at LAS! For me, LAS was a place that
gave me the chance to make great friends of fellow students and faculty
members. With all the friends I made, the good times we shared, and the all
the great memories I have of LAS, I couldn't have had a better high school to
graduate from!!!

I remember from my years in Elementary and there are few from the years in
High School. I have no doubt that that the time I spent in LAS was the best.
I remember during school how all of us wished to just graduate and leave as
soon as possible, now I know how wrong I was to think that. I miss the
Halloween Carnival, all the Hockey, Soccer etc. conventions. I hope to make
it to Savannah 2000 reunion. Good luck to everyone in the future!!!

We both went to LAS & ISB!
You don't know how many times I think of my years in Lahore---it was an
incredible time! It is wonderful to look through this site and remember old
names and times! I would love to go back to Lahore and visit all the old
haunts!
My brother, Bob Gardner, graduated from LAS in 1962 and my younger sister,
Cassie Gardner (Burke) was in 7th grade when we left. Dad worked for the UN.
What a wonderful adventure we had!

I just spoke with my brother Bilaal and he happened to tell me about the

I graduated from LAS in 1975. It would be a truism to say that life
hasn't been the same since, but I think anyone reading this will know
what I mean. In the twenty three interveining years I had many
different johs, went to the San Diego reunion, got married (Martha), had
two sons (Zackary (2), and Logan (6 months)), and moved to Singapore.
We have been living here for the last 2.5 years and will probably be
moving again in the next 6 months or so. If anyone is comming through,
please come and visit with us a while.
